Tension at either end of Serie A
I Rossoneri go into Sunday's encounter at Siena trailing three points behind unbeaten Juventus with four games left to play. Allegri's side edged Genoa 1-0 on Wednesday, courtesy of a late goal from Kevin-Prince Boateng, to remain alive in the Scudetto race.
"As the weeks progress, our chances of winning the Scudetto become increasingly more difficult," Allegri said to his club's website. "But we are playing to win every game and we will do this until the end. Only then we shall see what happens."
Juventus have a better head-to-head record against Milan and travel to Novara on Sunday riding a seven-match winning run.The Turin giants will be tested by a Novara side that must avoid defeat to have any chance of avoiding the drop. Novara are 19th in the standings, eight points adrift of Genoa, who hold the last position of safety.
The stakes are also extremely high when third-placed Lazio visit Udinese, who are sixth and three points behind Sunday's rivals. Lazio hold the last UEFA Champions League qualifying spot but are just one place and one point clear of Napoli, who travel to the Italian capital to face fellow European hopefuls Roma on Sunday.
Inter Milan have not given up hope of a third-placed finish either and take on already-relegated Cesena at the San Siro still unbeaten under coach Andrea Stramaccioni. I Nerazzurri are level on 52 points with Udinese.
Victory over Fiorentina in Bergamo would allow Atalanta to be able to plan for another season in Serie A with some confidence. I Bergamaschi have collected 43 points in 34 games and are eight points clear of Lecce.
Palermo coach Bortolo Mutti will be under pressure to take a result in Saturday's Sicilian showdown against Catania, with his side having taken just one point in their last four games at La Favorita. Cagliari are just two places but six points clear of the drop zone and host Chievo on Saturday.
Genoa are winless in their last 13 games and know that a defeat at Bologna on Sunday could see them fall into the bottom three for the first time this season. I Grifoni are one point clear of 18th-placed Lecce, who host in-form Parma. Parma have won their last three league games to climb into the top half of the standings.
