Struggling Brest sack coach Dupont
French top-flight strugglers Brest have sacked coach Alex Dupont, just five games before the end of the season.
Brest president Michel Guyot revealed it had been a tough decision to part with the man who presided over the club's promotion two years ago. "Alex will remain the coach who brought Brest into Ligue 1," Guyot told L'Equipe.
"I'm separating myself from a friend. Like any human being, I have a heart. I'm going to go home and shut myself up because it was a tough decision. I know what Alex Dupont represents to the city of Brest."
Brest have won just twice, and scored just eight goals, in 13 games since selling star striker Nolan Roux to Lille in January.
They currently sit in the relegation zone in 18th place, one point from safety, ahead of a trip to bottom club Auxerre on Sunday.
