Utrecht sign keeper Ruiter
Utrecht have signed promising goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter from second division club Volendam.
The 25-year-old had attracted interest from several other Eredivisie sides and had been linked with English clubs Newcastle United and Southampton.
Ruiter passed a medical yesterday ahead of being unveiled to the press at Utrecht's Galgenwaard Stadium this afternoon.
Former Utrecht keeper Harald Wapenaar, currently goalkeeping coach at the club, has predicted a bright future for Ruiter and tipped him to play for the Netherlands.
Ruiter has appeared 68 times in the past three seasons for Volendam, who currently lie 12th in the Jupiler League standings.
