Hertha Berlin coach Otto Rehhagel says his side will "not give up" after falling five points adrift of Bundesliga safety with three games to go yesterday.

A dramatic 3-3 draw with Bayer Leverkusen saw Berlin lose ground on Augsburg, who picked up all three points against Wolfsburg, but the veteran coach was pleased with his side's fighting spirit and optimistic for the final three games of the season.

"I am a bit disappointed because we could have won," he said. "We should have scored on a counter-attack to make it 4-2, but unfortunately we failed to do so.

"And then, sadly, we conceded a goal. But the team showed sensational morale. The team fought like lions and showed that they are intact and have morale for the coming games. We are still in the race and will not give up."

Berlin were 2-0 behind before Pierre-Michel Lassogga and Tunay Torun came on and turned the game around, giving them a 3-2 lead which they let slip in the 84th minute. "We fought back incredibly," said Lassogga, scorer of Berlin's first goal, to Sky television. "We fought to get a point here at all costs and I am proud of the team and of myself that we fought in such a way."
