Velez Sarsfield were not shaken by an earthquake which hit the stadium as they won 2-0 at Guadalajara in their Copa Libertadores Group 7 match.

Despite the quake, which hit before kick-off and measured 6.4 on the Richter scale, the match went ahead and the visitors secured qualification to the next stage as group leaders.

Guadalajara dominated possession without creating many clear-cut chances, and when they did reach the Velez box, they found keeper Marcelo Barovero in good form. In the second half, Velez improved and they did not waste their chances.

Augusto Fernandez opened the scoring in the 69th minute after a good move involving Juan Manuel Martinez, and in the last minute of the game Lucas Pratto made it two.

Meanwhile, in Brazil, Argentinian champions Boca Juniors beat Fluminense 2-0 to secure their qualification to the last 16. In the first half Dario Cvitanich scored, while in the second Juan Sanchez Mino netted.

Finally, in a Group 6 match in Paraguay, Brazilian giants Corinthians defeated Nacional 3-1, also securing their spot in the next stage. The match was evenly balanced until the 29th minute, when Jorge Henrique opened the scoring for the visitors and from then on, the Brazilians controlled the match.

Early on in the second half Emerson doubled the advantage. Ruiz Peralta narrowed the gap in the 68th minute, but that lasted only two minutes, as Elton made it 3-1 and secured Corinthians the win. The result also meant Mexican side Cruz Azul have also sealed their place in the next round.
