Basel extended their lead at the top of the Swiss Super League to 14 points with a 3-2 win at FC Thun today, with both sides finishing with ten men.

Marco Streller's sixth-minute opener was quickly cancelled out by a penalty from Stipe Matic, but Matic turned to villian when he was sent off with just 23 minutes gone.

Basel's man advantage only lasted five minutes before Adilson Cabral also saw red, but the visitors went back in front through Valentin Stocker just before the interval. Alexander Frei then made it 3-1 before an own goal from Yann Sommer set up a nervy finish.

In the day's other game, bottom side FC Sion won 2-0 at Grasshoppers with Vilmos Vanczak and Arnaud Buhler both getting on the scoresheet.
