Vegalta Sendai are two points clear at the top of the J.League following a 2-1 win at Cerezo Osaka. Rodrigues Wilson put Vegalta ahead in the 34th minute, a lead which Shingo Akamine doubled six minutes after the break.
Ryuji Bando pulled one back with five minutes to go, but Makoto Teguramori's side held on for a victory which, coupled with FC Tokyo's 1-0 home defeat by Sanfrecce Hiroshima courtesy of Hisato Sato's 56th-minute goal, saw them go top in their own right.
Jubilo Iwata are second, one place ahead of FC Tokyo, thanks to a 1-0 win over Kashiwa Reysol, Ryoichi Maeda getting the only goal in the 26th minute. Sagan Tosu enjoyed a comprehensive 3-0 win over Vissel Kobe, the goals coming from Ryunosoke Node (28), Yohei Toyoda (43) and Kei Ikeda (90).
Nagoya Grampus Eight and Omiya Ardija finished level on a goal apiece, with Danilson putting the former ahead three minutes after the break before they conceded to Jun Kanakubo seven minutes later.
Urawa Red Diamonds and Kawasaki Frontale also shared a 1-1 draw. Fereira Popo put the Red Diamonds ahead on ten minutes with Takuro Yajima levelling with a little over half an hour left.
Shimuzu S-Pulse claimed their second win of the season as Toshiyuki Takagi scored the only goal against Consadole Sapporo four minutes after the break.
Albirex Niigata were held to a 1-1 draw by Gamba Osaka. Da Cruz Alan Mineiro put the former ahead on five minutes with De Oliveira Rafinha levelling from the penalty spot midway through the first half. Finally, Kashima Antlers got their first point of the season after a 0-0 draw at Yokohama F. Marinos.
