Columbus Crew picked up their first win in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer with a 2-0 victory over Montreal Impact.

Montreal had Jeb Brovsky sent off after 19 minutes and Columbus took full advantage, with Milovan Mirosevic scoring from the spot and Olman Vargas netting either side of half-time.

Also off the mark are New England Revolution, who got the better of Portland Timbers thanks to Saer Sene's first-minute goal.

In the Western Conference, Seattle Sounders defeated Houston Dynamo 2-0, while Toronto FC were beaten 3-0 at home by San Jose Earthquakes.

Earthquakes were unstoppable with Chris Wondolowski scoring twice and Sael Salinas also on target. Seattle also had an easy time of it, with David Estrada and Brad Evans scoring their goals.
