Seattle Sounders did all of the damage in the space of five first-half minutes as they defeated Houston Dynamo 2-0.
David Estrada was credited with the home team's opening goal after 23 minutes when he drilled a low 25-yard shot that took a big deflection off defender Geoff Cameron on its way past Tally Hall.
Cameron then impeded Patrick Ianni when the home defender attempted to reach a corner, and a penalty was awarded. Brad Evans made no mistake from the spot, firing a firm low shot into the right corner for the 27th-minute second goal.
Defeat ended Houston's unbeaten start to the season, after two wins, and gave Seattle two wins from two at the outset of their campaign.
