Ashley Young is loving life as a Manchester United title challenger.

Although it has not been the greatest week at Old Trafford as the Red Devils deservedly crashed out of the UEFA Europa League to Athletic Bilbao, there has been no time to feel sorry for themselves.

For United have the small matter of their Premier League crown to retain, and that means a visit to ailing Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow. In the race with Manchester City, who do not play until Wednesday, when they face Chelsea, much is made of the advantage United gain from their vast experience of being in similar situations before.

Young is one of the rookies. But he can already understand the mentality Ferguson has injected in his 25 years in charge. "I am enjoying every bit of it," said the England winger.

"From the time you sign for a club like United you get that winning mentality. Every competition we have entered we have wanted to win and for me personally it is exciting times. I said from day one when a club like Manchester United come calling, you don't turn it down. It was a no-brainer.

"It got even more exciting last Sunday, when we found ourselves top of the league. We have ten games left now. We are concentrating on ourselves, like we have done all season and hopefully, by the end, we get that 20th title."

Young's own run-in memories are sour ones, focused around Aston Villa's repeated attempts to make one of those coveted UEFA Champions League slots. To Young's frustration, they all ended in disappointment and it is not an experience he wishes to go through at his current club. "At Villa we finished sixth three seasons in a row," he said.

"So many times that Champions League slot was there and then it just got taken away. I have new challenges now. Winning trophies and titles is vitally important for me. I have the chance to do that with United."

Young praises attacking play
Young will have been told Wolves were a thorn in United's side last term, when a side then bottom of the Premier League beat the one at the top in the corresponding fixture at Molineux.

If anything, the Black Country outfit are in an even worse state now, although Young is not taking anything for granted. "It is going to be a tough game," he said. "Wolves are fighting for their lives near the bottom and haven't had good results of late.

"But we have to be on our game, the way we have been over the last few weeks because our attacking play has been brilliant. As long as we keep that going I am sure we can get the three points."
