Trabzonspor leapfrogged Besiktas in third spot in the Turkish Super Lig standings after fighting back from a goal down to defeat the Istanbul outfit 2-1 away from home.
Besiktas took a 50th-minute lead through Hugo Almeida but Trabzonspor recovered to take the points with goals from Burak Yilmaz (62) and Gustavo Colman (78). The victory lifts Trabzonspor above Besiktas on goal difference, although both teams are still eight points behind second-placed Fenerbahce.
Gaziantepspor enjoyed a good day at home against Istanbul Buyuksehir as they boosted their hopes to avoid the drop with a 5-0 victory. Yasin Pehlivan and Ivelin Popov scored before the break, while Muhammet Demir, Abdullah Sume and Ismael Sosa completed the rout in the second half.
Bursaspor were also convincing winners over Karabukspor as strikes from Pablo Batalla (24), Sebastian Pinto (45) and Alfred N'Diaye (56) earned them a 3-0 triumph. Also today, relegation-battling Kayserispor beat third-bottom Manisaspor 2-0 with goals in the final 12 minutes from Sefa Yilmaz and Nordin Amrabat, helping to open up an eight-point gap between the two sides.
