AEK Athens missed the chance to climb into the top three of the Super League as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Aris Salonika.

Nikos Lazaridis scored the only goal of the game 11 minutes from time as stuttering Aris fell to a third defeat in their last five league matches, leaving them still a point behind third-placed PAOK Salonika.

Atromitos, meanwhile, are now just a point adrift of fourth spot after beating Panionios 2-1 away. Two goals from Kostas Mitroglou midway through either half put Atromitos in control but Panionios gave themselves a lifeline with Patrick Dimbala's 80th-minute goal.

However, the home side could not find an equaliser and they finished the match with ten men after goalkeeper Giannis Siderakis was sent off in the last minute.

In today's other match, Panetolikos moved three points clear of the relegation zone with a 1-0 win at ten-man Xanthi. David Addy netted the winning goal in the 40th minute before hosts Xanthi lost Manolis Mpertos to a red card ten minutes after the break.
