Club America go top
Club America are a point clear at the top of the Mexican Clausura after two goals by Christian Benitez guided them to a 3-1 victory at San Luis.
Wilmer Aguirre put the hosts ahead after only four minutes but their lead lasted just five minutes when Benitez got his first goal. Adolfo Rosinei doubled the lead in the 28th minute before Benitez got his second with a spot-kick ten minutes before half-time.
Toluca missed the chance to go top when they went down 1-0 at Atlas, Giancarlo Maldonado scoring the only goal three minutes after the break. Toluca finished with ten men following Edgar Duenas' sending off.
Atlante are fifth after a 2-2 draw with Cruz Azul. Emanuel Villa put Cruz Azul ahead in the 17th minute before Osvaldo Martinez (68) levelled. An 85th-minute Juan Cuevas penalty appeared to have won it for Atlante but their visitors levelled a minute later through Villa.
Tigres Monterrey are one place behind after a 2-1 win over Estudiantes Tecos. Alan Pulido (five) and Jose Rivas (21) gave them a 2-0 lead before Rubens Sambueza's 55th-minute penalty.
Ten-man Pachuca drew 1-1 with Queretaro. Pablo Vitti (26) put Queretaro ahead before Jaime Ayovi (51) levelled with Hector Herrera sent off four minutes later.
DaMarcus Beasley scored the only goal as his third-minute strike guided Puebla to a 1-0 win at Jaguares.
