Benfica moved five points clear at the Portuguese Liga ZON Sagres summit this evening with a 2-1 triumph at Feirense.

The fourth-bottom hosts had taken the lead five minutes into the second half through Fernando Varela, but the same player then put through his own net to level things for Benfica before an Oscar Cardozo penalty in the 73rd minute completed the turnaround.

Also today, Rio Ave and Academica battled out a goalless draw. The visitors played the final ten minutes a man down following the dismissal of Flavio Ferreira, but the hosts could not capitalise.
