Brazilian defender Alex has been presented as a Paris Saint-Germain player in the French capital this afternoon to indicate his move from Chelsea is complete.

PSG sporting director Leonardo joined Alex in addressing the media in a press conference broadcast live by PSG TV. PSG later confirmed on their website that Alex had signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 29-year-old joined Chelsea in 2004 but has struggled for first-team football under Andre Villas-Boas this season, and has now been reunited with former Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti.

I know him very well. He's a fantastic man and a fantastic player. He's a good investment for the team.
Carlo Ancelotti on Alex

"I knew about PSG's immense stature and that made me want to come," Alex said. "I also spent two years with Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea. For the past two months I've wanted to leave Chelsea and we finally opened talks with PSG. Everything went very well."

Coach Ancelotti added: "It's a good opportunity, at the price, but also because of his desire to come. I know him very well. He's a fantastic man and a fantastic player. He's a good investment for the team.

"He's played in England, the Netherlands, in the national team and many times in the Champions League. Physically he's strong and he's a good professional. I like this kind of player."
