Morelia progressed into the last four of the Torneo Apertura with a 2-1 home win over Cruz Azul in the second leg of their quarter-final. Leading 2-1 from the first leg, Morelia virtually sealed their place when Miguel Sabah and Lugo Aranda scored inside the opening 20 minutes.
Manuel Alejandro Vela pulled a goal back for Cruz Azul on 36 minutes but their hopes evaporated with the dismissal of veteran Mexico international Gerardo Torrado after 71 minutes.
A goalless draw was enough to see Queretaro progress from their tie against Guadalajara. Queretaro had set up their passage with a 2-1 success in the first leg.
