Two goals in the final seven minutes earned Jaguares a 2-2 draw against ten-man Santos Laguna in the first leg of their Mexican Apertura quarter-final on Sunday night.
The visitors enjoyed a dream first half and went in at the interval two goals up thanks to strikes from Felipe Baloy and Oribe Peralta.
But it all went wrong for them after the break. Substitute Jose Cardenas was sent off in the 71st minute - 11 minutes after his introduction - and Jaguares made the most of their man advantage.
Jackson Martinez pulled a goal back in the 84th minute and then substitute Franco Arizala ensured the teams would head into next weekend's second leg on level terms with a last-gasp equaliser.
In Sunday's other quarter-final first leg, Hector Mancilla's first-half strike gave Tigres Monterrey a 1-0 win at Pachuca. The Chilean forward notched the game's only goal in the 26th minute to give Tigres the upper hand heading into next Sunday's return encounter.
