Daegu FC have appointed Brazilian Moacir Pereira as their new coach, while Jung Hae-Sung has decided to stay on with Chunnam Dragons after handing in his resignation last week.
Pereira, formerly an assistant with Brazil's under-23 team, arrived in the Korea Republic on Tuesday to take up his new position and replace Lee Yong-Jin, who was fired last week after Daegu finished 12th in the K-League.
"I am here for the challenge," the 51 year-old told reporters at Incheon International Airport. "I am looking forward to it. After receiving the offer from Daegu, I tried to do as much research as possible but there was not much information about the team. So I am looking forward to meeting the players and getting started."
Chunnam, meanwhile, will not be looking for a new coach after persuading Jung to stay on at the club. Jung resigned after Chunnam finished 7th, just missing out on a play-off spot. "It was a tough season, with the match-fixing scandal and losing Ji Dong-Won to Sunderland, but now I am already planning for next season," said Korea Republic's assistant coach at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
