FC Sion missed their chance to go second in the Swiss Super League table following a 2-1 defeat at lowly Grasshoppers. After second-placed Lucerne lost 3-1 to FC Thun yesterday, Sion had the chance to leapfrog them but the 33rd-minute dismissal of Jose Adailton proved costly.
Giovanni Sio had only just cancelled out Orhan Mustafi's tenth-minute opener when Adailton was given his marching orders. Grasshoppers immediately pounced as Frank Feltscher netted the winner five minutes later.
Fourth-placed Young Boys also tripped up against lower-placed opposition as they were beaten 1-0 by ten-man Servette. Mathias Vitkieviez scored the only goal on 44 minutes as the hosts held on despite Laglais Kouassi seeing red after 55 minutes.
Kalu Uche scored twice as Neuchatel Xamax were 3-1 winners at home to FC Zurich. Uche's 25th-minute opener was cancelled out by Admir Mehmedi four minutes later. The hosts quickly snatched their lead back, though, through Javier Arizmendi before Uche sealed the points with an injury-time penalty.
