Serie A sides focus on midweek matches
Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin has surprised Italian media by claiming his team's target this campaign is to pick up 40 league points.
Guidolin's side beat Novara 3-0 last weekend to remain unbeaten in Serie A and go clear at the top of the standings after seven games.
"We deserve to be in the top position in the table," Guidolin said to Gazzetta dello Sport. "But in our changing room, we have a big sign that says our season's aim and that is to collect 40 points in order to defend our Serie A status.
"After each game we update that sign but we never look at the standings and we certainly don't have a reason yet to get excited." Udinese, who are one point ahead of Lazio, take on Napoli at the San Paolo stadium on Wednesday.
Lazio look for more
Lazio, meanwhile, head into their midweek home game against Catania on the back of three consecutive league wins. The Romans will be hoping to recover pivotal midfielder Hernanes, who is doubtful with an ankle injury.
Juventus have yet to taste defeat this season and take on Fiorentina at home on Tuesday hoping to return to winning ways after last weekend's 2-2 result against Genoa. The Turin giants are third, two points adrift of Udinese.
Roma will be hoping Erik Lamela can pick up where he left off yesterday when they take on Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris stadium. The Argentinian playmaker enjoyed a dream debut with the Eternal City outfit, scoring the winner against Palermo.
Parma wary of Prince
Parma will have to keep a close eye on AC Milan's Kevin Prince Boateng when the two sides meet at the San Siro. Boateng came off the bench to score a hat-trick and inspire his team to a 4-3 comeback victory at Lecce, having also scored a superb goal in the midweek UEFA Champions League win over BATE Borisov.
Inter Milan make the short journey to Bergamo to face Atalanta bidding to follow up last weekend's 1-0 triumph against Chievo. I Nerazzurri, who are 16th in the standings, have lost three of their last four league games away from home.
Palermo will seek home comfort when they welcome Lecce on Thursday. The Sicilians have won all of their games at La Favorita this season but have lost their last two league games.
Novara need win
Strugglers Bologna will have to show a vast improvement if they are to surprise Chievo in Verona. Last night's 2-0 defeat by Lazio marked Bologna's fifth loss of the campaign.
Promoted side Novara square off against Siena knowing that anything but a win could see them drop to the relegation zone. Novara are currently one point clear of 18th-placed Lecce.
Bottom side Cesena host in-form Cagliari looking for their first win of the campaign but having to do without suspended striker Adrian Mutu. Cagliari go into the encounter riding a four-match unbeaten run.
