Kuban Krasnodar secured their spot in the Premier League Championships play-off after recording a 1-1 draw at home to Krylya Sovetov. Third-bottom Krylya took the lead through Sergey Kornilenko in the 41st minute but Kuban levelled things up four minutes after the break when Sergei Davydov equalised.

The draw means Kuban climb up to sixth spot on 45 points are now assured of a top-eight finish as local rivals Krasnodar, who are ninth, are now seven points behind with only two games of the regular season left.

Krasnodar still have a chance of claiming a play-off spot of their own though after claiming a 2-0 away win over Volga Nizhny Novgorod. Krasnodar, who are the only side who can still break into the top eight, took the spoils with second-half goals from Otar Martsvaladze and Yura Movsisyan.

The win lifts Krasnodar onto 38 points, four behind eighth-placed Anzhi Makhachkala who occupy the final play-off spot. However, Anzhi have a game in hand which they play tomorrow and a victory over CSKA Moscow would earn Samuel Eto'o and co the final play-off berth and leave Krasnodar out of the reckoning.

In today's other match, Terek Grozny defeated Amkar Perm thanks to Antonio Ferreira's 70th-minute goal.
