Goals from Freddy Adu and Brian Carroll guided the Philadelphia Union to a 2-0 win over the Seattle Sounders in Major League Soccer. Adu scored with half an hour remaining with Carroll confirming three points ten minutes later at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

Philadelphia thus move to the top of the Eastern Conference with two games left to play. Seattle, meanwhile, stay second in the West, but are eliminated from the Supporters' Shield race. With the result, the Los Angeles Galaxy clinched their second straight Shield.

Chris Wondolowski joined Dwayne De Rosario and Thierry Henry atop the scoring charts as his double strike fired San Jose to a 2-1 victory over New England at Gillette Stadium. Wondolowski opened the scoring after just eight minutes as he controlled goalkeeper David Bingham's long kick and slotted the ball inside the far post.

Benny Feilhaber equalised after 55 minutes, but Wondolowski scored the winner with eight minutes left by rising to nod home his 14th goal of the season to claim all three points for the visiting Earthquakes.
