Serie A high-flyers Napoli were handed an injury boost today when it was revealed striker Goran Pandev will be sidelined for a fortnight rather than the two months initially thought.

The Macedonia international strained a hamstring in last Saturday's 3-0 win at his former club Inter Milan but will now be back quicker than expected. A statement from fourth-placed Napoli read: "Pandev underwent tests that revealed a hamstring strain in his left leg. He is expected to return to training in two weeks' time."

The 28-year-old will miss Napoli's league game against Parma on 15 October and the UEFA Champions League Group A showdown against Bayern Munich in Naples three days later. However, he could be available for the trip to Cagliari a week later.
