Elfsborg's Allsvenskan title hopes took a knock tonight with a 3-1 defeat at home by GAIS.

The visitors took control at the start of the second half with Jesper Floren opening the scoring after 49 minutes before Eric Bassombeng and Wanderson extended their lead.

Niklas Hult pulled a goal back for Elfsborg in the 73rd minute, but it was not enough and they remained seven points behind leaders Helsingborg with six matches remaining.

AIK closed the gap on the top two to a single point with a 2-1 victory at Orebro.The hosts went ahead three minutes into the second half through Riku Riski, but Viktor Lundberg levelled after 58 minutes before Admir Catovic scored the decisive goal 16 minutes from time.

In today's other match, bottom club Halmstad twice came from behind to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with Gefle.

Jakob Orlov and Mikael Dahlberg scored for the visitors, but Michael Gorlitz and Joe Sise responded for Halmstad, who are seven points adrift of the teams above them.
