Landon Donovan was the match-winner as Los Angeles Galaxy stretched their advantage at the top of Major League Soccer's Western Conference further with a 1-0 win over Colorado Rapids.

Donovan's 36th-minute goal settled a tight contest with the fifth-placed Rapids in favour of the home side.

It means the Galaxy have a seven-point advantage over Seattle Sounders at the top of the standings, although the latter do have a game in hand.
