Sandro has committed his future to Tottenham Hotspur by signing a new five-year contract, the Premier League club announced today.

Sandro joined Tottenham from Brazilian side Internacional last March and made an immediate impact, starring in midfield alongside Luka Modric towards the end of last season.

The Brazil international has now confirmed that he sees his future at White Hart Lane by signing a new deal that will run until the summer of 2016.

Sandro was used sparingly by Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp after his arrival but became a fans' favourite last term thanks to his tough tackling and tireless work-rate.

The 22-year-old played a major role in the club's UEFA Champions League last-16 victory over AC Milan and scored a spectacular goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

A knee injury suffered in the Copa America for Brazil this summer has kept him out of action this season and he is not expected to return for at least another month. The Brazilian faces a tough fight to earn his place in the first team back when he does.
