Boca Juniors missed the chance to go top of the Apertura on Sunday after they drew 1-1 with San Lorenzo.

Victory would have taken the Buenos Aires team ahead of Atletico Rafaela but it was the visitors who went ahead through Gabriel Mendez after half an hour. Dario Cvitanich equalised five minutes after half-time but they could not force the winner and are second, one point behind the leaders.

Colon Santa Fe could also have moved to the top but they lost at home to rivals Union Santa Fe. The visitors went into a two-goal lead within 17 minutes through Paulo Rosales and Fausto Montero. Colon's misery was compounded when Ivan Moreno y Fabianesi was sent off with nine minutes left.

Belgrano Cordoba squandered a two-goal lead as a double by Ricardo Noir guided Newell's Old Boys to a 3-2 win. The hosts were 2-0 up inside 13 minutes through Gaston Turus and Juan Maldonado before the visitors were thrown a lifeline when Victor Aquino scored three minutes before half-time. The score stayed the same until the 67th minute when Noir scored his first which was swiftly followed two minutes later.

Argentinos Juniors and Independiente drew 0-0.
