Liga de Quito of Ecuador clinched a 1-0 win over Venezuela's Yaracuyanos on Wednesday to book a berth in the Copa Sudamericana second round.

Edgardo Bauza's Liga, who won the title in 2009, celebrated a 2-1 aggregate win and will now meet another Venezuelan side, Trujillanos, in the next phase.

The goal came in the 19th minute when Neicer Reasco crossed the ball from the right and Enrique Vera headed home.

Yaracuyanos goalkeeper Alexis Angulo was named man of the match for his efforts in stopping further inroads. Bauza said: "In general, we played a good game. We are improving every day. We play better every day.

"In the last 10 minutes Yaracuyanos attacked us with long balls only. In the first half we had more opportunities to score. In the second half, we played better football."

In Paraguay, hosts Nacional clinched the qualification by beating San Jose of Bolivia 1-0 at the Estadio Defensores del Chaco. Silvio Torales netted the only goal of the match in the fifth minute, enough to determine the tie following a goalless first leg.
