Bundesliga new boys Augsburg maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a draw at Kaiserslautern this evening. Sascha Molders scored his third goal in two games to put Augsburg in front in the ninth minute, but Etey Shechter levelled for the hosts ten minutes from time.
Kaiserslautern were the first to threaten when Shechter turned a shot straight at goalkeeper Simon Jentzsch from 12 yards. But the visitors soon went in front as summer signing Molders received the ball in the area, held off Mathias Abel and fired a left-footed shot into the top corner.
Augsburg were on top now and Marcel Ndjeng almost put them further ahead when he went round goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and rolled the ball towards goal, only for Florian Dick to clear off the line. Axel Bellinghausen then dragged a shot wide of the near post with his left foot.
The visitors were looking anything but out of their depth in the top flight with Molders in particular a danger. The 26-year-old striker had a shot parried by Trapp with Ndjeng sending his follow-up from a tight angle into the side netting. Cameroon international Ndjeng brought another save out of Trapp with a drilled effort before Kaiserslautern finally came to life.
Rodnei's header was cleared by defender Marcel De Jong, but the Brazilian created the home side's equaliser in the 80th minute. Rodnei's pass found Shechter, who raced into the area before shooting low into the bottom corner to earn his side a point.
