Carlos Tevez will return to Manchester City on Monday after manager Roberto Mancini agreed to extend the Argentinian's summer holiday by a few days.

Tevez was initially due at Eastlands tomorrow, his arrival eagerly anticipated given the huge amount of speculation about his future. However, the club have confirmed Tevez is in receipt of official documentation stating his actual training date is Monday, 8 August .

It means Tevez will miss Sunday's Community Shield encounter with his former club Manchester United at Wembley. That was probable anyway given the player's involvement in the Copa America has meant he has missed all of City's pre-season campaign so far.

With their opening Premier League encounter with Swansea pushed back two days to 15 August, it leaves Tevez with seven days to get fit and put himself in contention for a place in Mancini's starting line-up.
