New York Red Bulls missed the chance to go top of the MLS Eastern Conference after they were left to snatch a 2-2 draw at home to FC Dallas. Former France international Thierry Henry grabbed an 85th-minute leveller for the hosts, just five minutes after Dane Richards' dismissal had left them down to ten men.

New York had led through a 39th-minute goal from Juan Agudelo, but a second-half double from Marvin Chavez left them needing Henry's late intervention. The draw meant New York not only failed to go top, but slipped to third after the Columbus Crew beat the Portland Timbers 1-0. Mamadou Danso's 79th-minute own goal settled the contest which moved the Crew level with Philadelphia Union at the top of the division.

Real Salt Lake netted four times after Bobby Burling's 60th-minute dismissal to beat the San Jose Earthquakes 4-0. Alvaro opened the scoring from the penalty spot on the hour before adding a second on 75 minutes. Further strikes from Kyle Beckerman (75) and Jamilson Olave (83) completed a big win. Justin Braun hit a hat-trick as Chivas USA thrashed the Houston Dynamos, who had JeVaughn Watson sent off after 70 minutes.

Kei Kamara and Omar Bravo both bagged braces as Sporting Kansas City beat Toronto FC 4-2. Danny Koevremans and Ryan Johnson scored for the Canadians after the break.

Shalrie Joseph kept his cool to convert an injury-time penalty and claim a 2-2 draw for the New England Revolution at the Colorado Rapids. Benny Feilhaber opened the scoring for the Revolution on 23 minutes before the hosts edged ahead thanks Caleb Folan (65pen) and Kosuke Kimura (82).
