Sevilla striker Arouna Kone was hospitalised yesterday night after suffering spasms and fever-like symptoms following a friendly match.
The Ivorian was admitted to hospital in Jerez after a match against UD Rotena, complaining of what a club statement described as "an abrupt bout of spasms with a feeling of intense cold and general sickness".
The update on Kone's condition this morning was more encouraging. The club statement continued: "Kone has spent the night at hospital and is alert and oriented, and the fever has reduced somewhat. Throughout the morning several tests have been conducted to help reach a more accurate diagnosis about what has affected the Côte d'Ivoire player."
