Midfielder Daniele De Rossi wants to remain at Roma, according to the club's sporting director Walter Sabatini.

The Italy international has yet to extend his contract with the Serie A outfit, with his current deal ending next summer, but Sabatini is confident the player will stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

"Regarding De Rossi, there is no doubt that Roma wants to keep him," said Sabatini. "We will negotiate his contract renewal. His intentions are to remain at Roma."

Sabatini also hopes Montenegrin forward Mirko Vucinic will remain at the club next season. Vucinic is in pre-season training with Roma but wants to leave I Giallorossi after a strained relationship with the supporters last term.

"Mirko has endured a negative atmosphere," said Sabatini. "But I consider him a great player who has room for improvement. He could become an even more important player for Roma and I would like him to remain.

"We will see how he [Vucinic] experiences the first few days of training and what his relationship will be with the staff.

"If he should leave, he will not be included in an exchange deal or sold cheaply. He is one of the few players in Italy that can determine the result of a game on his own."

Vucinic scored ten goals in 28 appearances to help Roma finish sixth in Serie A last season and is under contract with the club until June 2013.
