Flores quits A-League for China
Australian A-League player of the season Marcos Flores has rocked Adelaide United by rejecting their contract offer and signing for Chinese Super League Club Henan Jianye.
In a blow for the Reds and the entire national league, the Argentinian playmaker turned down the club's marquee offer for the 2011/12 A-League season.
Flores was acclaimed as one of the league's most gifted foreign stars, with eight goals in 31 games for the Reds last season, and won Australian football's highest accolade, the Johnny Warren Medal.
His departure leaves a big hole in the Reds' line-up for Dutch head coach Rini Coolen to fill ahead of the October kick-off to the new season.
