Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen has tipped new signings Michael Mancienne and Jeffrey Bruma to make an immediate impression when the new season gets under way.

Arnesen has been in his new post just a few weeks after leaving a similar role at Chelsea and was quick to return to his old club to poach the talents of the young duo, who he believes will flourish in the Bundesliga.

Netherlands international Bruma has four senior Chelsea appearances under his belt in addition to time on loan at Championship outfit Leicester City, while England U-21 regular Mancienne has several years' experience at Championship and Premier League level from loan spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Queens Park Rangers.

"Bruma has already played for the national team and has been training with Chelsea's senior squad for the past year-and-a-half while Mancienne has two years' Premier League experience under his belt," Arnesen told the official Bundesliga website.

I've known them both for a number of years and I can say without doubt that as well as being talented, they're highly motivated players as well.

"They'll certainly be able to help us right away. I've known them both for a number of years and I can say without doubt that as well as being talented, they're highly motivated players as well."

The Dane added that more new arrivals were being lined up in what is shaping up to be a busy summer of transfer activity at Hamburg.

He said: "Our top priority is a creative midfielder, a box-to-box player. We have a few candidates in mind, but it could take a little while yet. There's not much happening in Europe at the moment.

"Overall, though, I wouldn't necessarily say we're ruling out strengthening in any department at the moment. We always need to think about what's best for the club. If there's a chance of a good deal, we'll take it."
