Real Madrid midfielder Hamit Altintop is set to undergo back surgery next week, the La Liga club have announced.

The Turkey international joined Jose Mourinho's side on a four-year deal last month from Bayern Munich, although his appearances for the German club were limited last season as he struggled for fitness.

In a bid to address the problem, Altintop will have an operation next Monday in Germany.
