Corinthians close on leaders
Corinthians moved within two points of Campeonato leaders Sao Paulo after a 2-0 defeat of Fluminense on Sunday.
Willian was the scorer of both goals, with a sixth-minute effort followed by a penalty on the half-hour mark. It was Corinthians' third win from their first four outings.
Atletico Goianiense hammered Ceara 4-1. Humberto Gomes put Ceara in front after 21 minutes but when Nascimento Anselmo levelled three minutes later it was all downhill for the visitors. Jose Adriano made it 2-1 by half-time before Valmir Dos Santos (60) and Anselmo added the gloss.
Atletico Paranaense and Flamengo drew 1-1, with Formagini Madson (59) and Deivid De Souza (79) trading goals.
Bahia and Atletico Mineiro also shared a 1-1 draw. Rodrigo De Souza hit first for the hosts after 50 minutes, with Santos Neto Berola - who was later sent off - equalising 14 minutes from time.
Botafogo beat ten-man Coritiba 3-1. Rosimar Bill put Coritiba ahead in the seventh minute before efforts from De Matos Maicosuel, De Oliveira Elkeson and Alex handed Botafogo the win. Emerson was red carded in the 63rd minute.
Palmeiras drew 2-2 at Internacional, for whom Leandro Damiao scored a last-minute equaliser. A Marcio Araujo own-goal put Palmeiras behind only for Giacomance Kleber and Michel Luan turned the game on its head. Leandro then rescued a point for the home side with seconds remaining.
