Mehmed Bazdarevic has been appointed as the new coach of Ligue 1 club Sochaux.

The 50-year-old Bosnian returns to the club where he played as a midfielder for nearly a decade in the 1980s and 1990s.

Bazdarevic, who has also coached Qatari side Al-Wakra and Grenoble, has agreed to take charge of Sochaux for two years.

Bazdarevic, who played international football for both Yugoslavia and Bosnia, replaces Francis Gillot after he left to take over at Bordeaux earlier this week.

After ending his playing career he worked as a coach for Sochaux before moving on to Istres and Etoile du Sahel and then working in Qatar.
