Sporting Kansas City and Chicago Fire fought out a stalemate in the clash of Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference strugglers on Thursday.

Bottom club Kansas City, who picked up just their seventh point of the season, will be slightly more satisfied after holding on for 0-0 for 23 minutes after Jimmy Nielsen's red card.

Chicago moved to 11 points from 13 outings and remain above only Kansas in the Eastern standings.
