Velez Sarsfield are three points clear at the top of the Clausura after a 2-0 victory over Gimnasia La Plata on Sunday.
Santiago Silva put the hosts ahead in the 25th minute before Maximiliano Morales scored with a penalty nine minutes from time.
River Plate missed the chance to draw level with fourth-placed Olimpo when they drew 1-1 with San Lorenzo. Leandro Caruso put River Plate ahead in the 28th minute but Jonathan Ferrari equalised with 17 minutes left. Matias Gimenez was given a straight red card two minutes from time for the visitors but River Plate could not take advantage.
Quilmes rose two places to fifth bottom with a 2-0 win over Racing Club thanks to second-half goals by Martin Cauteruccio and Miguel Caneo.
Arsenal Sarandi moved up one place to fourth from bottom after a 2-2 draw with Boca Juniors. The visitors went ahead through Mauro Obolo (22) before Lucas Viatri equalised. Lisandro Lopez regained the lead for Boca Juniors but the game ended all-square when Pablo Mouche scored nine minutes before the finish.
