FC Midtjylland strengthened their hold on a UEFA Europa League berth with a 1-0 victory over rivals Brondby in the SAS-Ligaen.

Sylvester Igboun got the crucial goal in the 24th minute to move Midtjylland three points clear of Brondby in third place.

However, Brondby too look like a strong bet to be playing in Europe next season as fifth-placed Silkeborg did nothing to close what is now a seven-point gap, losing 3-2 to FC Nordsjaelland, who came from behind by scoring all three of their goals in the space of ten minutes.

Silkeborg had gone ahead five minutes before the break through Ornskov Nielsen, but the hosts turned things around in emphatic fashion after the hour mark.

Rawez Lawan levelled in the 61st minute, and three minutes later Nicolai Stokholm's penalty put them in front. Lawan then grabbed a second in the 69th minute to make sure that, despite Jeppe Illum's late strike, there was no way back for the visitors.

Quincy Antipas' late strike saw Sonderjyske move out of the relegation zone and drop Lyngby into it with a 1-0 win over their rivals. Antipas scored with only five minutes left in the match to leave Sonderjyske one point and two places better off than their opponents, who are 11th.

Bottom-dwellers Esbjerg are three points adrift of safety after taking a point from a goalless draw with AaB.
