Diego walks out on Wolfsburg
The 26-year-old play-maker, who has won 33 caps for Brazil, walked out of the pre-match team meeting after being told by Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath he had been left out of the starting line-up for what ended up to be a 3-1 win at home to Hoffenheim. Diego then refused to travel with the team to the Wolfsburg stadium.
The victory means Wolfsburg have narrowly avoided relegation, but Diego's future at the 2009 champions now looks in doubt after his tantrum. "I've never experienced anything like this in my career, I did not try to reason with him," Magath told German television channel Sky.
The Brazilian, who signed for €15 million from Juventus in August, is set to be heavily punished by the club. "Initially, we wanted to build a new team around him next season, but after what has happened, we'll see," said Magath, who is a notorious disciplinarian.
The former Werder Bremen star has disappointed on his return to the Bundesliga and picked up seven yellow cards in 30 league games last season.
