AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed the Serie A champions are planning a summer move for Marseille defender Taye Taiwo.

The Nigeria international becomes a free agent next month and has been strongly linked with Milan. "We do want to sign Taiwo, even though he does not hold an EU passport," Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

Taiwo, 26, joined Marseille in 2005 and has enjoyed a fine season for the French club. He has helped Marseille challenge for the Ligue 1 title as well as scoring the winner in the Coupe de la Ligue final last month.
