Portimonense and Naval were relegated from the Portuguese Liga after Vitoria Setubal's shock 1-0 win at Sporting Lisbon tonight. Jailson scored the 55th-minute goal which condemned Vitoria's rivals to the drop, rendering Portimonense's win over Maritimo irrelevant.

Ivanildo scored the only goal before Maritimo had Igor sent off, but it was not enough to save Portimonense. Naval's fans did not even have to wait on Vitoria's result as their side lost 1-0 at Unaio Leiria with Joao Silva scoring the 61st-minute goal.

Braga moved a point clear of Sporting in third place with a goalless draw at Academica while runaway champions Porto were also held, 3-3 against Pacos Ferreira. The title winners led 2-0 at half-time through Falcao and Hulk and the former restored the cushion after Luis Pizzi's response.

However, Pizzi went on to complete his hat-trick with a goal either side of team-mate Nelson Oliveira's dismissal as the visitors earned an impressive point.

Second-placed Benfica earned a 2-1 win at Rio Ave courtesy of Oscar Cardozo's first-half brace, substitute Bruno Braga pulling a late goal back for the home side. Marcelo Toscano's late goal earned Guimaraes a 1-0 win over Beira Mar, while Vitor Manuel Toy was on target as Olhanense won by the same scoreline at Nacional.
