Guadalajara put themselves in the driving seat in their Mexican Clausura quarter-final clash with Tigres thanks to a 3-1 victory in the opening leg on Wednesday.
Omar Arellano saw his 41st-minute opener for the home side cancelled out by Jesus Molina three minutes after the interval. But Mario de Luna restored Guadalajara's lead after 58 minutes before Marco Fabian sealed the win eight minutes later from the penalty spot.
Cruz Azul will also take an advantage into the second leg of their last-eight clash with Atlante following a 2-1 win.
The hosts had found themselves trailing to a Giancarlo Maldonado goal after seven minutes, but a Christian Gimenez double in the 19th and 47th minutes turned the match in Cruz Azul's favour. Atlante's hopes of scoring again were ended with the dismissal of Arturo Munoz after 67 minutes.
