Burdisso: We can reach the cup final
Roma defender Nicolas Burdisso has set his team a target of UEFA Champions League qualification and Italian Cup success to salvage their season. Having come within two points of lifting the title last season, Roma's campaign this time around has been disappointing.
They currently lie in sixth place after struggling all season long, but they are just one point behind city rivals Lazio, who are in fourth and the final Champions League qualification position.
Roma are also in the Italian Cup semi-finals, but trail holders Inter Milan 1-0 ahead of next week's second leg in Milan. In addition, I Giallorossi have a crucial game this weekend at home to Serie A leaders AC Milan, a game they must win if they are to have any chance of fourth spot.
"We still have a chance to reach the Champions League," Burdisso told Sky Sport. "For us it's important, it's what this team and this club deserves, to go as far as possible. We're one point behind after a season that wasn't very good. But I think we can finish well and I also think we can reach the cup final."
One of Roma's main problems has been the 49 goals they have conceded in the league, despite having been defensively very secure last season.
"Of course we need to be more careful than ever in defence," added Burdisso. "But we're a very attacking team and in every match we attack with two full-backs and two central midfielders as well as the four up front.
"Sometimes you don't see this balance in games and we have few players defending. Some teams don't commit many men forward and don't score many goals, but we score a lot. And we concede a lot too, we need to rediscover what we used to do well."
Only three teams have a better attack than Roma, but likewise, only three teams have conceded more, while second bottom Brescia have actually leaked two goals fewer.
