Podolski: I will stay with Cologne
German international forward Lukas Podolski said today that he will remain with Cologne next season, even though the club are yet to confirm their top-flight status.
"Being at Cologne does me good. It's my club, it's my town," Podolski told Bild am Sonntag.
"If it's just up to me, I'll still be here [next season]," added Podolski, who returned to his formative club in 2009 after three mixed seasons at Bayern Munich.
Cologne are currently 14th in the Bundesliga, six points above the relegation places with four games to play.
Despite his vow to stay put, Podolski called for the club to get their house in order, as they seek a replacement for coach Frank Schafer.
"At this club it's always a circus," said Podolski. "At Mainz, [Borussia] Dortmund and Hannover, there are no huge stars but there's a philosophy and everyone pulls in the same direction."
Asked where he would go if he left Cologne, Podolski said: "Without wanting to be arrogant, I could succeed at a big European club, in England or Spain."
