Benfica were crowned Portugal League Cup champions tonight with a 2-1 victory over Pacos Ferreira at the Estadio Cidade de Coimbra.
Franco Jara fired the Lisbon club ahead after 17 minutes and Javi Garcia made the scoreline more comfortable three minutes before the interval.
An own goal from Anderson Luisao six minutes into the second half gave the match a different complexion, but Benfica clung on to secure their third successive cup win.
The win will offer some consolation to last season's Liga champions, who already know they will have to settle for second place in the league behind runaway leaders Porto.
