The Seattle Sounders climbed to fourth in the Major League Soccer Western Conference by claiming a 1-0 win over ten-man Colorado Rapids.

The Rapids were dealt a blow in just the third minute when Brian Mullan saw red for a reckless tackle on Steve Zakuani which saw the Sounders man leave the field on a stretcher.

Despite their numerical advantage, Seattle only managed the one goal, with Fredy Montero finding the net after 19 minutes.
