Los Angeles Galaxy kept up the pressure on Western Conference leaders Real Salt Lake with a 2-1 win at the Chicago Fire.

Chad Barrett opened the scoring three minutes before the break and Omar Gonzalez made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute.

Substitute Dominic Oduro pulled one pack a minute from time but it was too little too late.

The result put the Galaxy level on points with Real, but they have played three games more.

Two wins for Timbers
Portland Timbers built on their first Major League Soccer win by beating FC Dallas 3-2.

Three days after beating Chicago, they earned a second victory courtesy of goals from Jack Jewsbury, Kenny Cooper and Rodney Wallace.

David Ferreira and Brek Shea pulled a couple back for Dallas in a frantic final ten minutes.

In the day's other game, Hunter Freeman scored two minutes from time to give the Houston Dynamo a 1-0 win over the New England Revolution.
